We at the library lament the death of longtime employee Denise Guren.  In addition to her work as the Interlibrary loan specialist, she is especially remembered for her love of music (as a "What the Chelm" musician and a participant in many musical events), her contributions to the union, and her enjoyment of art (pottery, knitting, and spinning yarn.) 

Until her illness affected her ability to perform, Denise, who passed away May 31st after a courageous 5 1/2 year battle with cancer, bicycled to work nearly every day--even during fierce rain storms. She was instrumental in organizing WCC's annual Bike-to-Work Day.  We at the library think that the best way to celebrate her zest for living and her practical approach to sustainability is to reach for a goal she had: a covered bicycle structure on campus. 

We expect to meet this several thousand dollar challenge; otherwise, donations will be used for sustainability projects.
